About Plastic Surgeons of LexingtonPlastic Surgery Beyond BeautyIn 1952, Dr. Andrew M. Moore, Sr. came to Lexington as its first plastic surgeon. He established the Commission for Children with Special Needs. He helped develop the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Kentucky, operated at Shriners Hospital and held many local and national offices. During his years of practice, he took care of over 60,000 patients of central and eastern Kentucky.
In 1983 Dr. Andrew M. Moore, II, joined his father's practice followed by another son, Dr. John Michael Moore, in 1987. A third son, Sherwood Moore, moved from his practice in Virginia in 1996 to join his brothers. They continue to be involved with the Commission for Children with Special Needs, Shriners Hospital, Children of America, St. Joseph Mobile Clinic and Baby Health. They have a busy practice encompassing the full scope of plastic surgery including aesthetic, reconstructive, skin cancer, congenital, hand and laser surgery.
